Eden Planning has supported the redevelopment of an underused area of previously developed land within the Stockport Green Belt. The scheme was developed through close collaboration between WTGB Ltd and the Wythenshawe Housing Community Group.
Eden guided the proposals from initial inception through pre-application discussions with Stockport Council and coordinated the submission of a full planning application. The approved scheme will deliver 78 affordable homes, including a mix of semi-detached houses and apartments, helping to meet identified local housing needs.
Throughout the process, Eden advised the client on design and technical amendments to ensure the proposals were acceptable from both environmental and technical perspectives. The scheme was ultimately supported by the Stockport Planning and Highways Committee, which resolved to grant planning permission in line with officers’ recommendations.
In reaching its decision, the Committee placed significant weight on the presumption in favour of sustainable development, noting the borough’s housing land supply shortfall. Members concluded that the benefits of the development clearly outweighed any potential adverse impacts, ensuring compliance with national and local planning policy.
